Objective: The objective of the session was to create awareness about the software and its applications in the field of architecture.

Brief :
On 7th February 2024, a demonstration session on Rhino and Grasshopper software was conducted for third, fourth, and final year students of the architecture field. The objective of this session was to enhance awareness and understanding among the students regarding the advanced capabilities of these software tools and their application in the architectural domain. The session was spearheaded by Architect Namrata Roy, having expertise in digital design tools and their application in innovative architectural solutions.

The session commenced with an introduction to Rhino, a leading computer-aided design (CAD) software that offers versatile modeling capabilities with the precision necessary for architectural design. Architect Namrata Roy elaborated on the software's ability to handle complex geometries and its compatibility with other design and engineering tools, making it an essential skill for modern architects.

Following the introduction to Rhino, the focus shifted to Grasshopper, a visual programming language integrated with Rhino that enables architects to build generative algorithms to create complex forms and structures. The demonstration highlighted how Grasshopper facilitates parametric design, allowing for easy adjustments and iterations in the design process.

The demo session received positive feedback from the participants, with many students expressing an increased interest in exploring Rhino and Grasshopper for their projects. The session succeeded in its objective of creating awareness and demonstrating the software's application in the architectural field. Students acknowledged the importance of incorporating digital tools into their design toolkit to enhance their creativity and efficiency.

Microsoft Project Software

Objective:As the world becomes increasingly technologically advanced, architecture students need to stay up-to-date with the latest software tools. This is where Microsoft Project comes in- a powerful project management program that can help architects streamline their workflow and save time on complex projects. The MS Project software is a powerful tool for project management, and this course aims to equip students with all the knowledge and skills necessary to use it effectively. The course objectives are designed to ensure that students can confidently navigate the software and apply its features in real-world scenarios.

Brief :The Microsoft Project Software course was successfully conducted with a group of enthusiastic fourth year students. The course aimed to teach them how to use the software in managing their projects effectively. The sessions were engaging, and the students were keen on learning each aspect of the program. The instructors started by introducing what project management is and why it's essential for architects. They then delved into explaining all the functionalities of Microsoft Project- starting from creating a new project, scheduling tasks, assigning resources, tracking progress, generating reports and much more!

The course curriculum was designed in such a way that each session built upon previous knowledge. As we progressed through the weeks, our students became increasingly confident in using Microsoft Project for their projects. The course was successful completed with got the positive feedback from everyone involved!

Hon'ble Principal Dr. Mahendra Sonawane Sir distributed certificates to the students for successfully learning the MSP course and wished them the best in their future endeavors

Objective:The objective of the session was to create awareness about the software and its applications in the field of architecture.

Brief :
On 20th October 2023, Friday, a demo session on Building Information Modeling (BIM) software was conducted for the fourth-year architecture students and faculties. The session was conducted by our esteemed alumnus, Architect Venkatesh Chandwale, who has extensive experience in BIM implementation. Architect Venkatesh Chandwale commenced the session by providing an overview of BIM software and its significance in the field of architecture. He explained that BIM is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building. During the session, Architect Chandwale demonstrated the features and capabilities of BIM software, showcasing its ability to create 3D models, generate accurate construction drawings, perform clash detection, and simulate building performance. He emphasized how BIM has revolutionized the architectural design and construction process, promoting improved collaboration, reduced errors, and enhanced efficiency throughout the project lifecycle. Furthermore, the session focused on the real-world application of BIM in the architecture field. Architect Chandwale shared case studies and examples illustrating the practical benefits of implementing BIM, such as cost reduction, better project visualization, improved project coordination, and increased sustainability.

Q&A and Discussion :
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students and faculty members had the opportunity to clarify their doubts and seek guidance from Architect Chandwale. The discussion revolved around various topics, including the best practices for BIM implementation, potential challenges, and career opportunities in the field of BIM.

Feedback and Conclusion:
In conclusion, the demo session on BIM software, conducted by Architect Venkatesh Chandwale, was highly informative and successful in creating awareness among the fourth-year architecture students and faculties. We express our sincere appreciation to Architect Chandwale for generously sharing his knowledge and expertise in the field of BIM. We look forward to organizing more such sessions and workshops to enhance the understanding and practical implementation of BIM within our architecture community.

Objective: The objective was to equip architecture students with the ability to present their models effectively and professionally through the use of well-constructed wooden bases.

Brief : Under the skill development program for architecture students, a workshop was conducted on how to make a standard wooden base for architecture models. The objective of the workshop was to give students an insight into the construction of a sturdy wooden base that could be used to support their models.

The workshop was divided into two parts. The first part focused on the theoretical aspects of making a wooden base, while the second part was hands-on experience where participants got to create their own wooden base.

Part 1: During the first part of the workshop, the instructor Prof. Ajay Harale, explained the following topics:

  • Materials and tools needed for constructing the wooden base
  • Types of wood that could be used for the base
  • Advantages of using wooden bases for architecture models
  • Design considerations for the base such as size, shape and finishing
  • Additionally, the instructor provided a step-by-step guide on how to construct a wooden base

Part 2:
In the second part of the workshop, participants were allowed to construct their wooden base. The materials required for the task were provided by the instructor, which included a wooden board, saw, sandpaper, and measuring tape. Participants were guided by the instructor throughout the process, and they were able to finish their wooden base by the end of the workshop.

Outcomes:
At the end of the workshop, the participants had the knowledge and experience to:

  • Choose the right materials for constructing a wooden base for their architectural models
  • Understand the importance of design considerations while constructing a wooden base
  • Use the appropriate equipment to construct a strong and durable wooden base
  • Develop a better understanding of the process involved in constructing a wooden base.

Conclusion:
The workshop was a great success as participants were able to acquire new skills and knowledge related to constructing a sturdy wooden base for their models. The hands-on experience enabled participants to put their learning into practice and develop confidence in their abilities. Overall, it was a productive and insightful workshop that enhanced the skills of architecture students.

Brief : The course was conducted by an experienced architect and AutoCAD expert, Ar. Vaishnavi Sonawanne. The objective of the course was to provide students with practical knowledge and skills necessary for computer-aided drafting and design using AutoCAD software.

Course Content: The course mainly covered the following topic

  • Introduction to AutoCAD software
  • Understanding the interface and software tools
  • Using drawing tools such as line, circle, and ellipse
  • Using modifying tools such as mirror, trim, and extend
  • Creating and modifying blocks and attributes
  • Organizing layers, dimensioning, and arranging objects
  • Applying and modifying text styles, and
  • Preparing and managing sheets and layouts

Course Delivery:
Ar. Vaishnavi conducted the course using a combination of theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises. The sessions were interactive, and the students were encouraged to ask questions and seek clarification on any doubts they had. Through this course, the students were able to gain confidence in their ability to apply the software to real-world projects.

Benefits of the Course:
The AutoCAD Certificate Course was highly beneficial to the students as it provided them with a solid foundation in computer-aided drafting and design. The knowledge and skills acquired through the course will be applied to enhance their future architectural projects. The course has also expanded the students' technical capabilities, increasing their employability in the architectural industry.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, the AutoCAD Certificate Course conducted by Ar. Vaishnavi for second-year architecture students under the Student Skill Development Program was a success. The students gained practical knowledge and skills in computer-aided drafting and design using AutoCAD software. The course delivery was effective and engaging, with students actively participating in the sessions. We extend our gratitude to Ar. Vaishnavi for sharing her expertise and providing an enriching learning experience for the students.
